“Purapura Whetū Trust in partnership with Odyssey House, delivers alcohol and other drug treatment programmes at Christchurch Men’s, and Rolleston Prisons, and in our community-based women’s residential programme.”
The programme at Christchurch Women’s Prison is also delivered in partnership with the Christchurch City Mission. These programmes are of varying lengths and referrals are managed by Ara Poutama, Department of Corrections. Individuals who complete these programmes can choose to engage with support from the aftercare team. Aftercare support is delivered both within the prison and the community and consists of group and individual therapy.
Aftercare workers help to build a network of support around an individual and can also work with whānau or family members, employers, probation officers and others who are identified in supporting an individual to maintain change.
Whānau workers also provide support to whanau members of tane and wahine who are completing, or who have completed, these programmes. The support given will be different according to what whānau identify as important to them but can include confidential individual therapy sessions, joint therapy sessions, group support and referrals to other agencies.
Referrals to the Drug Treatment Programmes are managed by the Department of Corrections.
